Ageing and Longevity as a societal Challenge. Summer School 2026

The Summer School addresses current challenges of ageing societies, the potential of longevity as an international field of research, and the technical, medical, economic, political, and ethical limits of what is yet feasible. Its objective is to contextualize key developments and future scenarios within a scientific framework, to develop practice-oriented methods for addressing complex future challenges, and to critically assess and reflect upon current debates.

Credits and Registration

The Summer School is open to Bachelor and Master students from all disciplines. Students can achive either 3, 5 or 6 ECTS according to their study program. Please contact your student advisory service bevor registration.

Please register via the Module using the campus registration system. Follow the specifc link for Bachelor’s or Master’s students. After the registration deadline, please contact Dr. Michael Waltemathe (michael.waltemathe@rub.de) regarding available places.

The Summer School is offered by the Fakulty of Protestant Theology and the Center for Aging and Longevity Studies, University of Santa Barbara, California (USBC). Responsible lecturer: Dr. Michael Waltemathe (RUB) and Prof. Dr. Joel Rothman (USBC).
